Shedding the Light on Travel Experiences by Chambers Intro does give some insight on how travel has expanded over the years. In the Intro by Chambers, it says that during the eighteenth century it was considered a privilege to travel long distances and now in today’s world we can tend to take advantage of it. One major reason that this is the case is because transportation is a lot more efficient and in the 18th century there were no airplanes. It was only a few individuals that could travel overseas and now it is fairly common to visit countries all around the world. Chambers states that the purpose of this book is to review anthropological contributions to the study of tourism. There can be a bias of accounts by specific tourists through ethnographic accounts. In chapter One, from Travel to Tourism it talks about when someone is in the process of traveling to a place and what tips or tricks someone should do. In the chapter it says that he likes to arrive at the terminal early to have extra time to prepare himself and settle in case things change. I would have to say that I learned more from chapter one than I did on Chambers intro because for me it talks about the process of traveling and getting to a place. Chapter one says that when people travel and meet in a terminal that no one belongs and that they are just sharing a common place before leaving for their trip.
